Rebecca Babbage

Musicologist

Rebecca works as a musicologist for OV, conducting research and writing as part of our editorial team. She also writes for OV Opinion.

When not working for OV, Rebecca is studying for an MPhil at the University of Cambridge, conducting research into the impact of the pandemic on the classical music industry’s use of technology, supervised by Professor John Rink, Dr Peter McMurray and Dr Ariana Phillips-Hutton.

Where’ve you come from and where are you going?

I went to Oxford High School, then I did my undergraduate degree at King’s College, London (2016-2019). I'm now studying for an MPhil in music at Lucy Cavendish College, University of Cambridge (2020-21).

What’s your instrument or voice?

Violin is my main instrument, but I also play viola and a bit of piano.

What’s on your Spotify heavy rotation?

Mahler, Symphony No. 9 (and his other symphonies); Beethoven's string quartets; anything from Jacob Collier.

I can cook, but I’ve never boiled an egg.
