Declan Hickey

Assistant

Declan does a wide range of work for the company including research, website design and testing, data processing and administration. He is the closest we have to an HR department and helps new team members learn the ropes. He was a mentor for our first intern, and writes for OV Opinion.

When not working for OV, Declan is a classical guitarist.

Where’ve you come from and where are you going?

I studied at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance (Junior Department) and read music at the University of Cambridge. In September I begin studying as a postgraduate at the Royal Academy of Music.

What’s your instrument or voice?

I play classical guitar, and also clarinet and saxophone, although not so much these days. I sang in the Downing Chapel Choir but have never thought of myself as a singer really...

What’s on your Spotify heavy rotation?

The Brahms symphonies (Rattle/Berlin Phil). Zelenka’s The Lamentations of Jeremiah the Prophet (Collegium Marianum). Bach’s lute works (Stephan Schmidt).

Tell us a quirky random fact about yourself.

I once featured in a film directed by Clint Eastwood.
